Expedition Artist Danielle Eubank will be presenting her latest work in an exhibition titled Oil on Water January 17 – February 22. Eubank specializes in capturing the essence of light and water, and has used her interest to create lush, ethereal waterscapes based on her journeys around the world. Found Gallery will feature selected works from her trips to Indonesia, the Mediterranean, the North American West Coast, and Africa.
In addition to her studio practice, Eubank is preparing to sail as an Expedition Artist on the Phoenicia, a replica of a 600 B.C. Phoenician vessel. The crew seeks to rewrite history by proving that the ancient Phoenicians were the first people to sail around Africa; long before Portuguese explorer Bartholomeu Dias. The ship will sail from the Mediterranean through the Suez Canal, around Africa and back to the Mediterranean. Selected paintings from this voyage will also be included in the exhibition.
An opening reception will be held January 17 from 6 to 9p.m., and is open to the public. The artist will be in attendance. On February 3, please join us for a special Artist Lecture at Found Gallery from 7:30-9pm.
