Nomad is a visionary, fearless artist who cannot be classified in a simple or single genre label. Constantly evolving his own style, he has seen fellow peers fall victim to an immutable process and persona. See also: artistic death and viewer boredom.

Although no one seems to claim that art is made in a vacuum, Nomad forgoes the typical construction of a piece in his native Berlin for production of work inspired by the building, block, neighborhood, hamlet, or city in which it will [at least temporarily] rest.

Nomad has begun work in Los Angeles on a bevy of large scale mixed media drawing/paintings, using local imagery and photography of himself in this city as his initial reference and inspiration. These efforts will culminate in his first West Coast exhibition, ‘The Art of Losing it Part III,’ a series of exhibitions which are evolving wildly.

Clearly earning his handle, Nomad has exhibited in Austria, Japan, Switzerland, Italy, Iceland, Germany, England, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, and Belgium.

Nomad’s recent arrival to Los Angeles marks an interesting homecoming. As a young adult, Nomad was primarily a street artist [a label which he has distanced himself from in the recent years, though Germans and other Europeans came to know him through his ubiquitous, provocative street presence] and found himself on the streets of some less than savory LA. Since then, he has established himself in many other places in the world outside of America, and now, though he has walked the earth with his vision, he remains humble and hungry for new combinations of time, place, and populations to inspire him.

Note: Nomad isn’t big on artist descriptions like this. If you really want to know about him, join us at the reception on Dec. 6, 2008.
