Morrisa Maltz, a Los Angeles native and recent graduate of Columbia University. She has shown in various group shows in NYC and Southern California, as well as participating in the “Peace Tower,” at the Whitney Biennial: 2006 Day for Night show. Through her travels abroad, she has also worked in artist communities and projects such as Bootlab in Berlin, Germany as well as in Bucharest, Romania.

The artist uses many media in her pieces, including drawing, sculpture, installation, performance, and video. Her work ranges from delving into the worlds of the subconscious and memory, to responses to a consistent questioning of contemporary interaction between the internet, television, tabloids and ourselves. Most recently, Morrisa has built installations with a mixture of fabric, cardboard, miscellaneous thrift store items, and her own sculptures and drawings. She then shoots videos in these spaces. The resulting videos of the installations are a means of making an otherwise scattered artistic visualization into one cohesive piece.

Morrisa is currently living and working in Los Angeles and will be one of the artists participating in the Spacial Reconstruction project.
