The Found Luddites in Berlin [Chris and myself] were obviously not present for this past weekend’s activities at Found [Money & Run kickoff party/DataPortability meetup/Sunday Sweets 4]. Our own crowd of Techno-utopianists, however [Brady, Drew, Renata], were in full effect.

Weekend Recap From Brady: The festivities kicked off on Friday with the Money & Run party – which returns this Friday and Saturday nights, starting at 8:30pm, and featuring DJ Tarantino [White Minstrel Show]. Saturday saw a meeting of nerds and ne’re-do-wells (nerd-o-wells, anyone?) for the DataPortability Meetup. On Sunday, we were graced with the sweet sounds of Jenny Jenkins, Mad Gregs, and Flowers From the Man Who Shot Your Uncle.

Though not officially public yet, Eastside/CoS royalty Beck and currently-finishing-their-sophomore-album Cold War Kids will be performing at this year’s Sunset Junction Street Fair.  This year, the Junction takes place on Saturday + Sunday, August 23-24.

That’s all we know as of yet, but we can guarantee on that Saturday evening you will be invited to hear some special guests in town to perform and play records as part of Found’s 2 year anniversary party.  Shhhh…….

Tonight [Thursday, April 3], Found will massage your ears with another evening of FREE MUSIC this Thursday, April 3 at 7:30pm. Scheduled to perform are Watercolor Paintings[Santa Barbara], Clitorectomy and the Mutilators[Santa Barbara], and Pangea of the Griznar Collective[LA]. Twee/pop/fuzz is the aural territory. Fun is the style. Drinks will be provided, of course.

The Vosotros-conceived ‘Lazy Susan’ listening show has been rescheduled. It is now taking place on Sunday, March 23 from 7-10pm. More soon.

Long Beach’s Sparrow Love Crew, who have opened for the Cold War Kids many times, will be performing at the opening of Matt Maust and Matt Wignall’s upcoming show ‘Your Alimony Check Won’t Buy a Bigger Room,’ next Saturday, March 1 6-9pm at Found Gallery.

Here is a video from one our first shows, when we were still ‘The Orphanage,’ from 2006 that I just saw for the first time. Matt Maust [who is showing next month with Matt Wignall] and fellow Cold War Kids discuss the interrelation of Matt’s design/collage work, the band’s travels, songwriting, and performing. Well put.

Vosotros‘ Lazy Susan project is capped off tonight at Land in Little Tokyo. The 12 month long project finds Gabe Noel forming a brand new band every month. They write, record, mix, and play live. And then disband.

As of February, the project is one year old, and to celebrate, Vosotros is releasing a compilation of all the recorded singles. Found will be hosting a listening party on Leap Year Day. Their work is highly recommended and Creative Commons licensed.

Modus Vivendi’s Subatomic Sound System, who will be djing at Saturday’s opening of Keith Perelli’s ‘Return,’ will also be playing tonight & tomorrow night. Tonight, they play Zanzibar and tomorrow [Friday], they team up with Golden at the Quon Brothers’ [one seen above] Grand Star Jazz Club’s Firecracker.

Finally, Subatomic plays Saturday evening at the reception [6-9] and perhaps later that evening as well.
