Vosotros‘ Lazy Susan project is capped off tonight at Land in Little Tokyo. The 12 month long project finds Gabe Noel forming a brand new band every month. They write, record, mix, and play live. And then disband.

As of February, the project is one year old, and to celebrate, Vosotros is releasing a compilation of all the recorded singles. Found will be hosting a listening party on Leap Year Day. Their work is highly recommended and Creative Commons licensed.

I finally made it to the LA Show for this first time this past Friday.  Despite feeling a bit dizzy in the Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar, I enjoyed this event a little more than I expected.

Frey Norris Gallery [San Francisco] and George Billis Gallery [L.A./N.Y.] made strong impressions on us.  Frey Norris had some really colorful, detailed work by contemporary Chinese artists.  George Billis also had a very colorful collection of works, in particular a couple of pieces left over from Brian Novatny’s recent show [pictured above].  Check out these galleries’ programs & upcoming events.

We really enjoyed seeing pieces by V. Koshlyakov, Marnie Spencer, Ryan McGinness, Marcus Jansen, and James Lahey.  Unfortunately, we didn’t make it to artLA.  Too much art in LA in January to keep up.

Steve Gullick’s Tenebrous opens tonight Saturday, January 19 and will run through February 4, 2008. This month marks the first ever exhibition of his work. The show at Found Gallery is mirrored by a show in Coventry at the Tin Angel. Steve Gullick is the most iconic British rock photographer of the 90s. His portfolio includes shots of musical luminaries such as Radiohead, Kurt Cobain and Nirvana, The Foo Fighters, Bjork, and Jeff Buckley.

Art Threat covered this rather unbelievable story about a group of Czech Artists who last June hacked into Czech Television and created a faux nuclear explosion at a mountain resort in the Krkonose region. While six members of the Ztohoven group have been charged with scaremongering, The Czech National Gallery saw fit to bestow upon them an award for their work.
