CityBeat describes why Miracle Mile has had a reawakening and need to hold an art walk [which takes place tomorrow]. Here is a full list of the participants [thanks, littlebirdytoldme]:

Benjamin Edwards has been busy on his computer lately, it seems. The prolific, detailed straddler of digital and practical techniques has not only been painting a ton; he’s also begun two projects that I don’t really understand at all.
And I like that. Click the links below:
Starting tomorrow, Wired presents a four day ‘New Worlds Fair’ of all things new in all realms of technology & design at the Convention Center. The people behind this massive expo haven’t been too forthcoming with details, but tasty images like the one above suggest missing what Wired’s NextFest has to offer would be downright irresponsible.
You can now preview some of the events, exhibitions, transportation, etc. on the new Art Crawl X site.
Also, here’s a list of some upcoming openings/closings by Art Crawl X Participating Venues:
This week I’m finally going to make it to the Downtown Art Walk. Below are some openings that I definitely recommend visiting in the area.
+ Found alumni Airom Bleicher, Jim Holyoak and Alex Schaefer team back up after their two Micro Gestalt shows with ‘animal-esque,’ a multimedia immersion trying to describe our relationship with other creatures as a whole and individually. Taking place at Art Murmur Gallery.
+ Pharmaka presents ‘Selected Stories,’ an all woman painting & drawing show featuring work based on the artists’ own mythology or narratives. Featuring new works by Loretta Bourque, Hazel Collins, Jessie Henson, and Johanna Byström Sims.
+ Probably the most fascinating exhibition goes up at the Los Angeles Center for Digital Arts. The ‘Snap to Grid: The Un-Juried Show’ [in its fourth year] acts a a reaction to the long-running LA Municipal’s summer open juried show. Basically, anyone who uploads an image online gains entry into the show, provided he/she follows the guidelines. Like the internet itself, the consumer/viewer has to sift through and judge the value of all of the openly entered work.
+ New paintings by Susan Bolles at Stelladottir.
[100 Ways of Performing as an Object #14, 2007, Lamba Print, 24″ x 36″ - by Samantha Magowan]
Last night at Cal State Long Beach, I went to the Greater MFA 2007 Closing [which I’ll share some imagery from soon], and my guide and I stumbled upon a little nook full of disco balls, neon collage, and an olfactory sensation that was vaguely nostalgic but, also, terrifying. The installation was by Samantha Magowan, a friend of mine, and after meeting with her today, I had to know what the odor was.
I’m fairly certain she said it was a perfect storm concoction of scents by J. Lo, Brittney, & Paris.
Anyway, Ms. Magowan will be the featured artist at the Art Crawl X kickoff party at the Echo-Plex on Oct. 11 [in addition to having a solo show in Italy this October as well]. We look forward to sharing more of her fiery, skanky, gorgeous work soon.
New Found Allies Creative Commons are intent on spreading their ideas on licensing to the city where much of our media is created, brokered, and archived. After their successful first LA salon, the Creative Commons folks have graciously volunteered to spearhead a presentation/panel on the most current definitions of Fair Use for classical visual artists, designers, musicians, bloggers, and so on. This informative discussion will take place during Art Crawl X, on Sunday Oct. 14, at Found Gallery. We’ll announce guest speakers as soon as we lock up the details.

Above is one of the new images from Keith Perelli’s ‘Return,’ which is up now and opens officially tomorrow evening [Saturday, Sept. 8] from 6-9pm. Below, I’ve selected a favorite image of my own from each of Perelli’s bodies of work for you to enjoy. Please click on the name of the series to see the rest in each collection and to read about the process from the artist himself. See you tomorrow night.

Modus Vivendi’s Subatomic Sound System, who will be djing at Saturday’s opening of Keith Perelli’s ‘Return,’ will also be playing tonight & tomorrow night. Tonight, they play Zanzibar and tomorrow [Friday], they team up with Golden at the Quon Brothers’ [one seen above] Grand Star Jazz Club’s Firecracker.
Finally, Subatomic plays Saturday evening at the reception [6-9] and perhaps later that evening as well.
