Farmlab has 2 really promising events going on this August. The 1st is this Saturday, August 4 [6pm-6am] — it’s called Tonalism, and the good people at dubLab will be taking care of you. On Saturday, August 18 [7:30pm] the Farmlab Public Salon Series presents PUPPET SLAM, ‘an evening of puppetry organized by Frank Langley.’

Good Found Friend Airom Bleicher has an interview in the latest issue [Vol 2, #8] of Citizen LA, the free monthly art publication centered in Downtown.  It’s not yet up on their website, but read the interview conducted by the Hive Gallery’s Nathan Cartwright where Airom, the ‘Austral Angeleno,’ muses on his subconscious use of imagery [Aboriginal and otherwise] in his work.  He will be the featured artist at the Hive’s September show.

I’ve been looking at the imagery of Suehiro Maruo a lot lately, more in my head than anywhere else.  I thought I’d share some of this self-taught Japanese artist’s work if you’ve not seen it yet.  Suffice it to say I haven’t been getting much sleep lately.  Check out below for some interesting links.

UK singer-songwriter Carina Round is one of the many musical acts kind enough to play the gallery this coming August, as we celebrate our one year anniversary [or: Paper Anniversary].  She will be playing, along with Erick Cole, the John Nau Quintet on a quiet Sunday evening in August  [August 12 to be exact] at Found Gallery.

Thanks to Ubu who recently posted many videos by Otmar Bauer & Otto Buehl, who are considered part of the Vienna Actionist Movement, which was less of a formal movement, spending time revising their manifesto.  Instead, they were a group of Austrian men that were very provocative, funny, and unlawful.

Before that was the standard.
