Paint This, Venice
This Sunday, the kind-of-famed Venice walls will be repainted in an effort to preserve the historicesque site. Special graffiti crews were invited. And, get this, you can’t paint on the walls unless you have a permit.
Let’s see how long that lasts.
Oh, and this Sunday, in another surprising turn, disc jockeys will be playing records of the hip-hop and reggae persuasion. Why can’t you just bump some industrious Micro House on a beach day?

These sillyheads are trying to curb graffiti problems in the area by making a big deal out of graffiti. Kind of perplexed. Well, they have a website, so they must be legit. Speaking of hip-hop, isn’t having a safe, fun, family graf party like listening to Nelly duets?
Here’s some lists:
New Rules
- The area is being renamed the Venice Public Art Walls.
- The walls will be open only on weekends and CIty holidays.
- The walls will be closed on weekdays to painting. Enforced by LAPD.
- All artists will need a permit to paint at any time.
- Permits will be free, and will be issued on-site by ICU Art.
- Strict LAPD enforcement of anti-vandalism laws in the Venice area.
- Minors can paint with brushes and rollers only.
- Large walls are for pieces only.
- Large walls require crews of at least 3 artists.
- Last pieces up Sunday afternoon run all week.
