Found Immediate Family

I wanted to take a few minutes to introduce the people that help make Found real, individuals without whom none of this would be possible. I’m prompted to do this out of general thankfulness to have devoted friends that help create an ‘us.’ We at Found are clearly not interested in a minimalistic/mystified approach to presenting our art, artists, and gallery to you.

We find there is little to gain by not sharing information and expressing our appreciation of the people who contribute in presenting our vision. And we also like to think of ourselves as something a little more communal than a sparse, snarky space.

So, here is a bit about our family (but by no means is a full list of everyone who is a part of what we’re doing).

troopers

Germaine, Katie, and Nathan are the core executors at the gallery. They help on all of the installations, receptions, and special events — whether it be wheat pasting, researching, or bartending. Germaine and Katie are fine arts students at USC. Nathan (or Natanya, in some circles) is a budding photographer. Check out some of his photos.

Gone Smart

Ryan is the head of Design Gone Smart, and designs/art directs for several publications, art books, and album art. He created all of our identity/design when we were the Orphanage. He’s a sweety.

Brim DeFo

Brady Brim-Deforest is the spearhead of Found’s new visual identity, from the logos, to designing our new website and online store. The tireless young man has a diverse range of skills. Just ask him. Some of his endeavors —- Kiwi Ad Agency & Human Global Media. Brady and Found are collaborating on a new art publication for New Yorkers and Angelinos alike (artrant.com). Dropping sometime in the near future.

Coachella

Cullen is our publicist, and he’s constantly battling for us to get noticed, effortlessly finessing people who are paid to be disinterested unless someone else is already interested in you, helping to discern us from the hundreds of other galleries in the area, securing sponsors, press, and doing damage control on my antics. Pictured above having a good time at Coachella this year.

watch your back

The Westerly Terrace Criminals (Shae & Natanya) as a team help foster morale, generally kicking it and helping on remodeling projects. Always kind sages.

L Rose & D Wain

Lyla Rose, Found artist (see: Introductions, JCP, the upcoming Other Cheek), is also an installation contributor and now lives closer to the gallery. She recently returned from a Bhutan voyage. Stay tuned for some of her work to appear on the new online store/gallery.

soothsayer

Elliott David, general ne’er do well and almsgiver, is a satellite Orphan, operating from New York. A writer and conceptual cantankerer, he writes for Flaunt, Blackbook, and BookSlut/ArtSlut. He’s a constant source of perverted objectivity, helping moderate local issues or orchestrate surprise visits for our receptions.

yep!

Team moms Laura (left) & Jen (right) keep the kids in line.

Weems, Conquistador, & Jason (Farmer’s) Marcus put the ‘bro’ in bromide. Always helping installing flatscreens, playing instruments in acoustic musical experiments, or rocking future shows.

Arg!

Leah (B) Demo, or my girlfriend as I like to call her, is our resident florist and animal wrangler. She is rad and more poised than I could ever be. She works for David Ratcliff and is a 1st AC.

the crza

Resident Found DJ, filmmaker, JCP artist, & visual fx artist Chris Cruse the Crza helps keep shit on point. Easy. Photographed above on the set of his soon-to-be-completed film Norman. Spearhead the FourEyedMonsters after parties last September. Helps finish sentences and drop knowledge. A funny kid to watch.

John, as co-partner of Found, helps balance out the erratic artistic tendencies on my part of the spectrum. I met him in the context of a collector, and, a little over a year ago, the Gallery (then, the Orphanage, now Found) was born. Always cool, calm, & collected.

me & sal

Me on the left (Sal, my inspiration for my first solo exhibition, on the right). I’m fuzzy and distracted here, contemplating the Fall of Saturn, and the potential (but not eventual) destruction of my own loosely sketched persona.

Thanks for reading about these people whom I’m very proud to introduce. Stop by this weekend for Wolfgang’s reception, and, now that you recognize us, say hi.
